PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police officers are searching for the driver who hit and killed a woman on Interstate 5 early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a driver in a vehicle at 1:14 a.m. on I-5 southbound near the North Skidmore Street overpass.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found a deceased woman lying in the I-5 travel lanes. Police say she suffered from catastrophic injuries.
Police contacted the person who called 911 and found out the driver who struck the woman left the crash scene.
The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team is investigating.
The interstate was closed until 4:25 a.m. during the investigation.
